[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_wp_text text=”For years I struggled to come up with any satisfactory reason why anyone should become a member of their local church. Maybe you’ve had the same struggle. Maybe you’ve asked some of the following questions yourself:

Isn’t following Jesus enough?

Isn’t it enough to be a Christian?

Why do I have to also belong to one particular branch of the faith?

After many years and much soul-searching, I finally feel able to articulate why this kind of belonging matters. But my answer isn’t short. In fact, if you want to benefit from my reflections and research, it will require you do a little soul-searching of your own. That process–biblical learning and personal reflection–is one of many little tweaks I recommend when joining a church. In fact, at Westwinds, we don’t even refer to that process as membership anymore. We call it ownership, to drive home the idea that this place will become yours if you’re willing to put in the effort.”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
