There are signs all over Westwinds that describe “The Church We See.” These 21 statements were born out of months of prayer, conversation, and research about the many ways our world is changing and how God desires his church to change in order to better cooperate with him in the future. I’m writing a book on the topic in preparation for our fall series. I was supposed to have the first draft done a month ago. I don’t normally miss deadlines but I missed this one by a lot.

Today, I’m writing about humanity and the idea that ‘what you do flows from who you are.’ I’m passionate about this idea because it clarifies a similar-yet-foolish maxim that ‘being is more important than doing’. Such a distinction is asinine. You cannot separate your vocation and your identity any more than you could split the two sides of a coin.
