Maybe we’re supposed to celebrate the Sabbath each week, not only for rest, but also for focus. Consider that the Lord rested after six days of labor, and when he rested, we are also told “he considered all he had done.”
God saw all that he had done, and it was good, and he was proud. If we were to consider, on the seventh day, all that we had done on the previous six, we might not be so proud.
We need space for repentance and focus as much as we need rest. We need to look back and see where we screwed up, so we can make changes for the next six days.
Not all our work is good. Some things must be undone. This is the Sabbath privilege, to know that we can do things differently in the days to come.
