God created Adam and Eve, planted a luxuriant garden to provide for their welfare, and walked with them daily to enjoy its many pleasures. Nevertheless, the serpent insinuated God had intentionally and deceptively withheld from them the best gift of all—truth! Adam and Eve suspected God may not have given them the best the world had to offer. Their sin wasn’t doubting whether God existed, but whether God could be trusted. Ever since, we have been out of place and the whole of creation has suffered for it.
They thought too much of themselves and too little of the Lord.
