We often don’t have an issue with giving our time, compassion, or even physical labor. But our hands grip a little tighter when the giving is monetary. We have a misconception that the money is “ours.”

What we need to understand is that God owns everything. We are merely stewards of his possessions, responsible for wise expenditures.

This is both a significant responsibility and a staggering honor. We have been invited to cooperate with God in the cultivation of his Kingdom. That invitation isn’t solely about money, but it does extend to our money, since it is one of the great indicators of what we truly value.

The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.’

“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’
