Yesterday I watched a YouTube video of a soldier coming home and surprising his son. The boy cried with joy at hearing his father’s voice, and I cried along with him. I love seeing others happy and uplifted. I think we all do—it’s why we cherish such heartwarming stories.
Even better than seeing others’ joy is sharing that joy with them. Since we crave God’s prosperity, abundance, and delight for ourselves, it’s only right that we crave it for others as well. Our giving is a way we can partner with God in prospering others; selfishly enabling us to share in their happiness.
You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
Acts 20.35b
